Brinson man dies on RR tracks

Brinson- According to a Bainbridge news release, a Brinson man was killed by a train at approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27. The accident occurred as the victim was walking along the railroad tracks a few hundred feet from the intersection of Georgia 310 in Brinson.

Decatur County Sheriff Investigator Terry Phillips reported that the victim was Ernest Edward Lee, 61, of Brinson.

The train engineer was reported to have seen the victim beside the tracks as the train approached. It was reported that Mr. Lee sat down a cup of coffee on the ground and placed himself in the path of the oncoming train. He was killed instantly.

Reports indicated that the victim had not been able to work due to a disability, and had been very depressed and on medication.

Decatur County Coroner Peter Bruton stated that he ruled the manner of death to be suicide caused by generalized trauma.
