Robbery and shooting in Colquitt

An armed robbery took place at approximately 1:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3. The robbery occurred at Barnard's Convienient Store on First Street. Buren "Ox" Griffin was at the store when a black male came into the store and demanded the money in the cash drawer. During the incident, Mr. Griffin was shot in the left hand with a semi-automatic pistol. The suspect took the cash in the cash register and exited the store.

Mr. Griffin was taken to the local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, and later transferred to a Dothan hospital for more treatment. Griffin was reported to be in good condition after the gunshot wound, and considers himself fortunate to be alive.

The incident is being investigated by the Colquitt Police Department, the Miller County Sheriff's Dept. and an agent from the G.B.I. of Thomasville.
