Ebony Dots & Dashes

On Monday, Feb. 19, I had a really good surprise, answering the knock at the door to see two of my favorite young people, Mr. and Mrs. Tyrone Buie of Columbus. These young people seem to care about me, and I appreciate them. They visited with me before going to the nursing home to visit with Mrs. Joshie Mae Choice. It was a short but good visit.

Going to the doctor is no fun. I went for my yearly physical last week. You can wear warm clothes, but they have you to take them off and have you exposed to the cold air. Anyone who has passed 50 years are not able to withstand the temperature in those examination rooms. Boy, was I glad when it was over.

Mrs. Georgia M. Jay stopped by to see me Saturday afternoon. She had been to the funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Dawson.

Her sister, Willie Bidley, came by to see me on Friday. These girls, or should I say young ladies, are like my own. Their parents and I have been friends from day one.

Why is it so hard to get service? My telephone went out of control last Saturday. It was reported by a lady who called to find out if I was having trouble. I assured her I was. She reported it, and the results was nil. For a time the service was completely out. It still is out. Who do I call? I've tried but without any help. Please, Bell South, if you read this column, HE L-P.

Mr. Burnell Grant was admitted to Miller County Hospital I was told last week. I do hope he is doing well.

Mrs. Alyce Edwards called to check on me. I was able to let her know I was still kicking, but my phone was having trouble.

Mr. Bill Thomas and family spent some time with Mrs. Waver Fountain and Mrs. Edna Thornton last week. They are from Arlington. We were glad to see them.

Mr. Laqiuent Macklin came home last week and spent time with his mother, Mrs. Edna Thornton; he is from Atlanta.

Mrs. Gloria Washington spent some time in the hospital last week. She is doing O.K. now.

Birthdays: Mario Butler, March 4; Javaris Butler, March 4. These are the grandson and great-grandson of Mrs. Waver Fountain.

Sights to Behold

Man washed clothes, whites and colors together. One green sweat shirt had all clothes the same color. Maybe next time he'll separate the lights from the darks.
