On the way to church, an eight-year-old boy was given a dollar and a quarter by his father, who told him to put one in the collection plate and keep one for himself.

After church, the father asked his son which one he had put in the plate.

"Well, dad," the boy replied, "I was going to put the dollar in, but changed my mind when the preacher said that God loves a cheerful giver."
