Been putting off getting in shape? Starting Monday, February 26th, 2007 Dr. Maria E. Vives will facilitate a beginners running/ walking group at the Miller County High School Track. This eight-week class will meet on Mondays from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. The goals of this group are to provide a safe and non-threatening environment to exercise, to improve health and self-esteem, to promote a friendly competitive spirit, and to encourage participation in the National Mayhaw Festival 5K run (April 21, 2007).

Participants who follow the training plan that is provided should be able to complete the 5K distance by the end of the course. There will be several running/walking plans depending on level of fitness. During this class participants will also have the opportunity to learn proper exercise techniques and training tips.

Maria has seven years of training and competitive experience in running and is a current member of the Gulfwinds Track Club in Tallahassee, FL. This free class is open to anyone ages 16 and up. Class limit is 30 participants. Call 758-5338 or email mvives30@yahoo. es for more information.
