The SGA basketball teams started 2007 off on the right foot sweeping both Ashford Academy and Westwood.

SGA traveled over to Ashford Friday and totally outmanned Ashford Academy. The Lady Warriors easily won 49-21, and the Warriors coasted to a 53-27 victory.

The Lady Warriors ran out to a 10-0 lead, and Coach Amy Tucker substituted freely throughout the rest of the girls' game. The Lady Warriors had 8 different players break into the scoring column in the first half. SGA led 14-6 after one quarter and 28-12 at halftime. The Lady Warriors out-scored Ashford, 21-9, in the second half.

Caitlin Cooper led the Lady Warriors scoring with 11 points. Kristi Williams added 10, Jodi Harris 7, Allison Hutchins 6, Lindsay Buckhaulter 5, Ashley Tedder 4, Casey Foster, Kyndal Andrews, and Jana Sizemore 2 points each.

Beau Clenney's 10 first quarter points jump started the Warrior offense as they ran out to a 19-4 first quarter lead, and they never looked back. Leading 27-9 at halftime, SGA out-scored Ashford 15-7 in the third quarter and coasted to an easy win.

Clenney was the only Warrior in double figures with 13 points. Alex Wilson added 8, Russ Williams, Drew Bridges, and Michael Fincher 7 points each, Jason Dean 5, and Miles Lee 2 points.

SGA traveled to Camilla to face the Westwood Wildcats on Saturday. Coach Tucker's Lady Warriors picked up right where they left off in Ashford. Led by Caitlin Cooper's 8 points, SGA jumped out to a 16-2 first quarter lead. The Lady Warriors' big three, Cooper, Allison Hutchins, and Kristi Williams, combined to score 17 points in the second quarter, giving SGA a 33-8 halftime lead. Kyndal Andrews came off the bench to score 4 points to help SGA outscore Westwood 7-3 in the third quarter, and the Lady Warriors put it on cruise control the rest of the way, winning 50-31.

Caitlin Cooper and Kristi Williams again led the Lady Warriors in scoring with 16 and 10 points respectively. Allison Hutchins added 7, Kyndal Andrews 6, Jodi Harris 4, Jana Sizemore 3, and Casey Foster and Lindsay Buckhaulter 2 points each.

The boys' game was a tough one. The Warriors played good defense but gave Westwood way too many offensive rebounds. The Wildcats used these second and third chance shots to keep the game close.

Alex Wilson helped SGA to the early lead by driving to the basket and scoring 6 first quarter points. The Warriors led 13-8 after one quarter and 22-18 at the half. The teams traded baskets in the third quarter with SGA still holding a slim 33-29 lead.

SGA did a much better job rebounding and hit their foul shots in the fourth quarter. The Warriors held Westwood to 5 points in the quarter while scoring 15 points of their own to secure a hard fought win, 48-34.

Alex Wilson led the Warriors with 16 points. Russ Williams, Beau Clenney, and Drew Bridges added 7 points each, Michael Fincher 6, and Jason Dean 5 points.

The Lady Warriors' record moves to 3-3 while the Warriors record goes to 4-2 on the season.
