MCHS New Year Basketball Highlights

Miller County's #34 goes up in the air for two more points. Miller County's #34 goes up in the air for two more points. The Miller County Lady Pirates and Pirates hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break and are ready to see some basketball action. The first game of the 2007 season opened on Friday, January 5, with a heavy downpour prior to game time at the MCHS Gymnasium. Those Panthers came out of the swamp, prancing and pawing to get the game underway.

In the Lady Pirates' game, our girls played hard and came close to the Clinch County Lady Panthers in the fourth quarter. Shay Crankfield was the top scorer with a total of 16 points while Christy Daniels assisted with 10 points. Sukena Diamond stepped up and played with a lot of heart, adding 7 points while Speedy Talisha Calloway tacked on 6 points, Katrina Crankfield added 4 points, and Cassandra Calloway eased in two points. Top scorer for the Lady Panthers was Tawanna Williams with 12 points. The final score was 51, Lady Panthers, to 45, Lady Pirates.

In the second game, our Miller County Pirates dominated the Clinch County Panthers. Senior Willie Butler stepped up and showed leadership taking it to the HOOP with a total of 31 points, Willie hit 5 three pointers within these 31 points. Senior Craig 'SCOOTER' Huntley followed with 15 points while Will Martin adding 10 points. Trez Morgan, Cosby Salters, and Trey Bush each assisted, adding 4 points. Top scorer for the Panthers was Justin Beard with 17 points. The final score ended 72, Pirates, to 57, Panthers.

This Tuesday night will be an exciting game as the Seminole County Lady Indians and Indians comes to the MCHS Gymnasium. This will be two awesome games to be seen. Both the Lady Pirates and Pirates, along with their coaches, are looking for some strong support from all of you Pirate fans. Let's get CRUNK for our MCHS basketball teams! Game time is at 6:00 p.m.
