Deep thoughts on growing older
Submitted by: asabear

Lying around with road maps drawn upon my hairless pate, I allowed my mind to wander through verdant fields of remembrance, and postulated whatever future I had in store. I ticked them off by moving as I scribbled some thoughts. These are those I can decipher…….

Considerations

1. Growing old is winter to some people; but for those who are optimistic and content, it is a fruitful time of harvest.

2. So long as we continue to be amazed, we can delay growing old.

3. One’s entire life depends upon the utterance of “yes” or no” only two or three times between the ages of 16 and 25.

4. Old age arrives suddenly, like the snow. One morning on awakening, one realizes that everything is white.

5. It is by growing older that we learn to remain young.

6. The person who considers himself too old to learn something has probably always been that way.

7. If someone declares that he is able to do everything at age 60 that he was able to do at age 20, then he wasn’t doing much at 20.

8. Growing older embellishes everything – it has the same effect as does the setting sun on beautiful twilights in autumn.

9. As one grows older, one generally rids himself of his shortcomings because they no longer serve any useful purpose.

10. The good side of all this, as old as we might be, is that we are always younger than we will ever be.
