Up The Creek Without A Paddle
And then came Easter!
We received some more good news and bad news last week. My daughter, Tammy, returned to her doctor/surgeon to see what he found from the reports that came back concerning her ovarian cancer. He thought he had gotten it all by taking everything out of her that he thought she could do without. The news, however, wasn't as good as she/we had wished, prayed and begged for these past weeks.

Couch potatoes, beware
Famous people have one thing in common. They are not boring. From military geniuses like Alexander the Great to film legends like Bogart and Gable, the high-profile people knew how to get your attention and keep it. They still do. And talent has nothing to do with it (see Boy George).

Under the Gold Dome
Snow returned to Atlanta, and so did the Appropriations Committee members as they continued to look for budget cuts. The snow did not last long, and some attributed that to the heated debate coming from the Board of Regents and the Subcommittees on Higher Education. Both sides clashed as the chancellor warned members to go slow on cuts that could cause damage to Georgia's University system.

Power outage case
At my recent assault trial, I offered a plea of "Guilty with an explanation." The judge asked me what my explanation was, so I told my story. "Your Honor," I said, "I had a mammogram appointment, which I actually kept. I was met with:

Ebony Dots & Dashes

Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, puts her feet up, and begins to read her book. The peace and solitude are magnificent.

A Soldier Died Today!
He was getting old and paunchy, and his hair was falling fast, and he sat around the Legion, telling stories of the past. Of a war that he once fought in and the deeds that he had done, in his exploits with his buddies; they were heroes, every one.

Pogo was right; and the enemy is still us!
In trying to explain why our political paralysis seems to have gotten so much worse over the past year, analysts have rounded up a plausible collection of reasons, including: President Obama’s tactical missteps; the obstinacy of congressional Republicans; rising partisanship in Washington; the blustering idiocracy of the news networks; and, the Senate filibuster, which had devolved into

As You See It
If that is the best the nursing home can do to get new patients, we are in tough shape. How can someone who makes the rules and votes on how much taxes we pay be allowed on the city council? He don’t even pay taxes or obey the ordinances. What will the county commissioners do next to get more power over us and the tax dollars?

A few things I Believe
A Birth Certificate shows that we were born. A Death Certificateshows that we died. Pictures show that we lived! I Believe.... That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do love each other.

Tyrants in the Market
While American politicians and intellectuals have not reached the depths of tyrants such as Stalin, Hitler, and Mao Zedong, they share a common vision.
