Week of October 9, 2005

PAUL ELLIS STOUT

Paul Ellis “Daddy Paul” Stout, 84, of Donalsonville, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Southwest Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL.
Grave side services were held Friday, October 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville with Rev. Luther Hastey and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating.

Pallbearers were members of the Board of Directors of Donalsonville Hospital, Herman Brookins, Broaddus Simpson, Mitch Banks, Joe Spooner, Bill Burke, Chuck Orrick, Dr. Homer Breckenridge III, Dr. Charles O. Walker, Dr. Michelle Moody, and James Moody.

Mr. Stout was born in Ramsuer, NC on February 3, 1921 to the late James Ray and Mary Ellis Stout. He grew up in Sanford, NC, where he was a football, baseball, and basketball star. Mr. Stout was a graduate of North Carolina State University, where he was a member of their basketball team. He was a well known amateur golfer in the Sanford, NC area, as well as here in Seminole County. He married Evelyn Cummings on November 2, 1943, and began his successful and extensive cattle operation at Seminole Farms until his retirement in 1973. Mr. Stout was a veteran of World War II, during which time he played on the Army baseball team, a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for a number of years, a member of the American Legion Post 157, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also refereed basketball games for several years. He was a charter member of the Donalsonville Country Club, where he served as the golf pro and operated the golf shop for a number of years. The Pro Shop at the Country Club is named in honor of him. Mr. Stout served as the President of the Donalsonville Country Club on numerous occasions. He was an active member of the Donalsonville Hospital Board, serving as the Board’s chairman.

Survivors include one son, John Ray Stout; his wife Carolyn of Bluffton; three grandchildren, Jay Stout of Bainbridge, Stacy Mills of Tallahassee, FL, and Bert Thomas III of Atlanta; three great great grandchildren, Jordan Stout, Zachary Mills, and Trenton Olhausen; one sister, Helen Enzie of Cary, NC; and one brother, Russell Stout of Lillington, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn Cummings Stout; and a daughter, Linda Stout Thomas.


Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

MAMIE N. WORSLEY

Mamie N. Worsley, 89, of Colquitt, died Sunday, October 9, 2005 at Miller County Hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Talmadge Worsley, Rev. David Womack, and Rev. Mark Worsley officiating. Interment followed in Roberts Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday, from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Colquitt Funeral Home.

Mrs. Worsley was born October 1, 1916 in Miller County. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include eight sons and daughters-in-law, Talmadge Worsley and Marcia of Colquitt, Buddy Worsley of Colquitt; Jimmy Worsley and Teresa of Arlington, Henry Worsley and Linda of Colquitt, Herman Worsley and Rise' of Delhi, LA, Steve Worsley of Colquitt, Roger Worsley and Angie of Colquitt, and Wayne Worsley and Marilyn of Delhi, LA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Leon Barnes of Tifton, Gertrude and Don Roberts of Jakin, and Brenda and Wally Mahan of Atlanta; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Worsley, and one son, Doug Worsley, Jr., one infant daughter, Rita Worsley and one infant son, Elton Worsley.


Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DONNIE B. BUSBY

Donnie B. Busby, 80, of Bainbridge, died Friday, October 7, 2005, at her residence.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 9, 2005 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Mock officiating. Interment followed in Oak Valley Cemetery in Miller County.

Pallbearers were Lyn Busby, Lee Busby, Leslie Busby, Bryan Busby, Billy Pollock, Tommy Avery, and Mike Jackson.
Mrs. Busby was born February 22, 1925 in Miller County to the late Leon and Ollie Gordon Phillips. She was a Lunch Room Manager and a member of The Church of Christ in Colquitt.

Survivors include her children Lynwood and Linda Busby of Savannah, Mervin and Carolyn Busby of Bradley, IL, Garland and Mary Busby of Milford, MA, and Mavis and John Sizemore of Bainbridge; one brother, J.W. Phillips; one sister, Clare Deaton; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.M. “Moses” Busby and her parents.


Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
