Week of June 19, 2005

HAROLD GREEN

Harold Green, 85, of Bainbridge, died Monday, June 20, 2005 at Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services were held Thursday, June 23, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the West Bainbridge Cemetery in West Bainbridge.

Mr. Green was born October 28, 1919 in Danville to Marion Green and Lady Mae Lamb Green. He retired from the Georgia Factory for the Blind where he was a broom foreman. He was a member of the West Bainbridge Freewill Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Helen June Deloach Green; one daughter, Barbara Moates of Bainbridge; two sons, Robert Green and Larry Green, both of Bainbridge; and one sister, Peggy Freeman of Peachtree City.

ELIJAH OLIVER

Mr. Elijah Oliver, 77, of Colquitt, died Sunday, June 19, 2005.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 24, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Colquitt with the Rev. Lenorris Dixon officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were friends of the family.

Mr. Oliver was born December 16, 1927, the son of the late Sister Lillie Mae Thomas and the late Brother Pete Oliver. Brother Oliver attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he was a long time member until his health began to fail him. During his more active years at Shiloh, he was a church Deacon that regularly lead Devotional and Sunday prayer services. He was married to Sister Cassie Mae Huntley, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include five children, Anzeline Blake of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Georgia O’Fernell of Savannah, Elijah Oliver Jr. of Memphis, TN, Lewis Oliver of Morganfield, KY, and David Oliver of McDonough; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Williams’ Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

MR. JOHN LUTHER 'JOHNNY' HILBURN

Mr. John  Luther “Johnny” Hilburn, 62, of Colquitt passed away June 21, 2005 at Miller County Hospital. The visitation will be Wednesday, June 22, 2005 from 6 til 8:00 P.M. at Colquitt Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 23 at Cooks Union Methodist Church with Rev. Al Lewis officiating.
Joe Cook, Ronnie Boyd, Randy Brown, Rex Cook, Winston Cobb, and Glen  Sheffield will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Kelley Cemetery.

  Mr. Hilburn was born July 31, 1942 in Miller Co. He was a retired farmer, member of Cooks Union Methodist Church, veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam, member of the William M. Wilson VFW Post #6046, member of the Walter C. Dancer  Lodge # 115, and a member of the Albany Hasan Shrine Temple.
Surviovors include his wife, Molly G. Hilburn of Colquitt; one brother, Hamilton and sister-in-law Verlie Hilburn of Colquitt; one sister-in-law, Betty Jean Hilburn of Colquitt; one brother-in-law, Joe McClamma of Tallahassee, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Carene Hilburn, two brothers, Billy & Charlie Hilburn, and two sisters, Betty Hilburn and Diane McClamma.

FRED LEE CONOLY SR.


We regret to announce the passing of Fred Lee Conoly, Sr. age 75, of Donalsonville who passed away Monday, June 20, 2005 at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, at 3:00 PM at Iron City Baptist Church in Iron City, GA with Rev. Zack Worsham and Rev. Luther Hastey officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, Ga. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 22, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Conoly was born in Decatur County, GA on July 29, 1929 to the late Wallace Clarence and Lena Averett Conoly. He served his country in the US Air Force, retired from Georgia Pacific in 1990. He was a member of Iron City Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Mamie Conoly of Donalsonville, GA; two sons Lee Conoly and his wife Cyndi and Mike Conoly and his wife Lisa both of Iron City, GA; one brother Julian Conoly of Bainbridge, GA; five grandchildren Zack, Logan, Micah and Merredith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Tauton, Jerry Houston, Zack Conoly, Micah Conoly, Kevin Conoly and David Conoly. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hornsby, Harold Crosson and the Adult II Men’s Sunday School Class at Iron City Baptist Church.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
