ALVIN J. GASPARAD

Alvin J. Gaspard, age 75, of Picayne, MS passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006 at the Convenant Rehab and Health Center in Picayne, MS.
Graveside service was held on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 3:00 P.M. at West Bainbridge Cemetery in Bainbridge with the Rev. Milton Harrison officiating.
Mr. Gaspard was born in Slidell, LA on December 11, 1930. He served in the United States Army retiring after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Spooner Gaspard.
He is survived by a daughter Mary Ellen Wynn of Picayne, MS and three step-daughters Donna Williams of Donalsonville and Marlene Hart and Darlene Quin both of Picayne, MS.
Serving as active pallbearers will be members of the US Army.

OMAR MARVINTEMPLES JR.

Mr. Omar Marvin Temples, Sr., 76, of Damascus, GA passed away November 19, 2006 at his residence. The visitation will be Monday, November 20, 2006 from 7-9 P.M. at Colquitt Funeral Home. The funeral will be 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Russell Murphy and Jane Weeks officiating. Bobby Miles, Sr., Jeremy Weeks, Cody Houston, John Kelley, William Phillips, and Joe Brown will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Cross Roads Cemetery.
Mr. Temples was born April 23, 1930 in Seminole Co. GA. He was worked maintenance with Lee Co. School System and of the Church of God Faith. He is survived by his wife, Elnita Temples of Damascus; one son, Omar M. (Tami) Temples, Jr. of Damascus, two daughters, Nita Jane Temples (Charles) Weeks of Arlington and Frances Virginia (Flint) Houston of Fort Gaines; three brothers, Ralph Temples of Arlington, Bud Temples of Damascus and Ronald Temples of Albany; two sisters, Evelyn Fain of Damascus and Carolyn Roberts of Newton; seven grandchildren, Ashanna Grayson, Bobby Miles, Stonie Houston, Jeremy Weeks, Kaitlin Temples, Cody Houston and Jordon Temples; and seven great-grandchildren, K.J. Wills, Bobby Miles, Jr. Coby Grayson , Angel Grayson Bolder Miles, Omanie Miles and Christina Houston. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Serena Temples.

LORENZO DOWE CULBRETH

Mr. Lorenzo Dowe Culbreth, age 93 of Atlanta died Thursday, November 16, 2006.
Mr. Culbreth was born on January 31, 1913 in Miller County. He was a retired supervisor with the Southern Freight Tariff Bureau and was a member of First Decatur Baptist Church. He was an air force veteran of World War II.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Hiram with Dr. Quinn Evans officiating. Interment followed Monday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Fred Mintz, Hiram; three sisters, Edith Alley and husband, Harold, Alpharetta, Jewell Moyer, Lancaster, PA, Alice Andrews, Colquitt; grandchildren, Angela Mintz, Chuck Mintz, Kathy Scarbrough; great-grandchildren, Emily Corley, Madison Scarbrough; and numerous nieces and nephews.

CECIL EARL FRANKLIN JR.

Mr. Cecil Earl Franklin, Sr., age 94, of Donalsonville passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 at Great Grans Personal Care Home.
Funeral services for Mr. Franklin was held on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville with the Rev. Kirk Loyless and Rev. Luther Hastey officiating. Captain George Whittaker of Georgia State Patrol Post 14 in Donalsonville, along with Larry Kastner, one of Mr. Franklin's grandsons, delivered eulogies. Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville.
Mr. Franklin was born on May 5, 1912 in Glen St. Mary, FL to the late Jesse Earl and Ether Shaw Franklin. He married Katherine Teal of Bainbridge on July 20, 1933, and they were married for 59 years prior to her death in 1992. Mr. Franklin was the last surviving member of the first GA State Patrol Trooper School. Upon completing requirements for graduation, the first day on the roadways was Sept. 9, 1937. During the 34 years that Mr. Franklin spent in law enforcement, 14 years were with the patrol and the other 20 were spent as an investigator with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. During his tenure with the Dept. of Public Safety, he served in Washington, Gainesville, and Cartersville, GA prior to moving to Donalsonville. He retired July 1, 1971 as a Lieutenant with the GBI.
Mr. Franklin was a member of the Peace Officer's Association and the Roaming Winnies of Georgia. After retirement, he and Mrs. Katherine traveled all over the United States and as far as Nova Scotia. They always took their dog, Biscuit, and sometimes a grandchild with them. Mr. Franklin was an active member of Friendship United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Webb Bible Class.
Mr. Franklin leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Cecilla Ann Franklin Hopkins and her husband Clifton of Tallahassee, FL; seven grandchildren, Kathy (John) Newman, Susan Kuhlman, Larry (Kathleen) Kastner, Dede Franklin, Kay Hartig, Bryan Hopkins, and Lee Hopkins; twelve great grandchildren, Steven Kastner, Jay Kuhlman, Mathew Kuhlman, Jesse Kastner, Leighton Brookins, Lane Caldwell, Erica Hartig, Jared Hartig, Mason Hopkins, Cecil Franklin IV, Spencer Franklin, and Kassidy Hopkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Earl and Ether Shaw Franklin; his wife, Katherine Teal Franklin; a son, Cecil Earl Franklin, Jr.; and a grandson, Cecil Earl (Trey) Franklin, III.
Serving as active pallbearers will be members of the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers were members of Georgia State Patrol Post 14 and other post members of Troop G, as well as members of the Webb Bible Class.

JOSEPHINE M. MILLER

Mrs. Josephine M. Miller, age 70 or Iron City died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Miller was born in Grady County on May 14, 1936 to the late Tifton and Amanda Lee Martin Mills. She was married to D.H. Miller who preceded her in death in September of 2006. Mrs. Miller was employed by the Georgia Industry for the Blind in Bainbridge until her retirement.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Merritt officiating. Interment followed in Olive Grove/Rock Pond Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Ashby Floyd, Duane Floyd, Brandon Ward, Carson Nalls, Joey Miller and Chuck Miller.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Miller and wife, Glenda, Colquitt; three daughters, Diane Floyd and husband, Gary, Bainbridge, Brenda Ward and husband, Jim, Tallahasee, FL, Mary Nalls and husband, Mark, Bainbridge; two sisters, Mary Lee Vaughn, Tallahassee, FL, Lois Chason, Bainbridge; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Elizabeth Haire.

MARK EDWARD DUNCAN

Mark Edward Duncan, 46, of Colquitt, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at his residence.
A memorial service was held Thursday, November 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church on Spring Creek Road in Bainbridge.
Mr. Duncan was born November 25, 1959 in Polk County, FL. He was a cabinetmaker.
Survivors include one son, Kyle Duncan of Dallas, TX; his mother, Dorothy Baumgartner of Bainbridge; one brother Perry Wayne Duncan of Bainbridge; several aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews.

ANNIE LOU WELLS

Mrs. Annie Lou Wells, 95, of Colquitt passed away November 14, 2006 at Miller Nursing Home.
Mrs. Wells was born October 24, 1911 in Miller Co. She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 19 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harris Nix and the Rev. Talmadge Worsley officiating. Interment followed at Colquitt City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Richard Griffis, Tony Griffis, Emory Griffis, John Griffis, Andy Griffis, Brian Griffis, Keith Griffis and Jay Wells
She is survived by her three sons, Jerome (Theresa) Wells of Bainbridge, Winston (Judy) Wells of Daphne, Al and Steve Wells of Colquitt; one daughter, Glenda (Tom) Vancel of Thomasville; two brothers, Preston Bailey of Auburndale , FL and Earl Bailey of Watkinsville; one sister, Carolyn Ward of Byron; nine grandchildren, Richard Griffis, Tony Griffis, Emory Griffis, Jay Wells, Todd Vancel, Shannon Grace, Shelley Bennett, Sherry Stovall, and Pebbles Warren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, B.D. (Bill) Wells, one daughter Billie Wells Griffis, one son-in-law, R. L. Griffis, and one daughter-in-law, Geraldine Wells.

SUE ROBERTS ROLAND

Mrs. Sue Roberts Roland, age 49 of Colquitt died Friday, November 17, 2006 at her residence.
Mrs. Roland was born February 25, 1957 in Seminole County. She was a member of New Home Free Will Baptist Church and a 1975 honor graduate of Miller County High School. She was a former magistrate judge and retired 911 operator for Miller County.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. at New Home Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Benjamin Miller, Rev. Talmadge Worsley and Bobby Roberts officiating. Interment followed in Primitive Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of the Miller County Sheriffs Department, Fire Department, EMS, and Colquitt Police Department.
Survivors include her husband, Larry W. Roland, Colquitt; two sons, Donny (Laura) Roland, Donalsonville, Alan Roland, Colquitt; one daughter, Anna Warren, Colquitt; five grandchildren, Whitney, Amanda, and Brantley Roland, Peyton and Delena Warren; two sisters, Debra (Steve) Middleton, Pam (John) Easom, Colquitt; and parents, Don and Gertrude Roberts, Jakin.

PEGGY JANE LITTLE JINKS

Mrs. Peggy Jane Little Jinks, 77, of Colquitt died Friday, November 17, 2006 at her residence.
Mrs. Jinks was born March 7, 1929 in Humboldt County, Iowa. She was a homemaker and a member of Colquitt United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Colquitt United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Romigh and Rev. James Aycock officiating. Interment followed in Colquitt City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Keri Stanley, Tyler Stanley, Trey Stanley, Richard Jinks, Bill Hendrich, Chris Herdrich, Jeff Herdrich, and Bob Herdrich.
Andy Spooner, Vic Spooner, Billy Roland, Jerry Phillips, Wayne Varnum, Al Newton, and Dr. Jess A. Hester served as honorary pallbearers. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie L. Jinks of Dothan, Al; one son, Mark E. (Gail) Stanley of Kalispell, MT; one sister, Marge Murphy of Hayden Lake, ID; one brother, Richard J. Little of Missoula, MT; four grandchildren, Shay S. LaCasse of Seattle, WA, and Keri R. Stanley of Kalispell, MT.
Tyler E. Stanley of Kalispell, MT, and Kim Cadwell of Boise, Idaho; and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Shay LaCasse, Emily Ann Cadwell, and Cameron James Cadwell.
