MARY ELIZABETH SHEFFIELD

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Sheffield, 85, of Colquitt passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Miller County Hospital. The funeral was held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 22, 2005 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tim Mock officiating. Matt Sheffield, Michael Sheffield, Christopher Sheffield, Samuel Sheffield, Carl Long Jr., and Sam Pickron will serve as pallbearers. Interment followed at Colquitt City Cemetery.
Mrs. Sheffield was born May 3, 1919 in Decatur Co. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist Faith.
She is survived by her husband, E Marvin Sheffield of Colquitt, GA, two sons & daughters-in-laws, Ernie M. & Susan Sheffield and Danny B. & LeeAnne Sheffield, both of Colquitt; one sister, Della Dollar of Loveland, OH; and seven grandchildren, Matt Sheffield & granddaughter-in-law Megan, Michael Sheffield, Christopher Sheffield, Samuel Sheffield, Matthew Brooks, William Brooks, and Danielle Sheffield.


Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

RUFUS DUKES

Rufus Dukes, 91, of Bainbridge, died Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Memorial Manor.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Whittaker and Rev. Neil Moore Sr. officiating. Interment followed in Brinson Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Buddy Wisham, Buddy Dukes Jr., Chris Dukes, Billy Evans, William Mathis, and Neil Ray Moore Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were John Bridges Sr., Harvey King, Ed Mitchell, and James Mitchell.

Mr. Dukes was born April 1, 1914 in Miller County, but lived in Decatur County most of his life. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Highway Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the formerly Odd Fellows and Deacon Highway Freewill Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Wesley “Buddy” Dukes of Bainbridge, Rufus “Doc” Dukes of Brinson; two daughters, Mary Frances Wisham of Dover, FL and Dorothy Wynette Cox of Brinson; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Gilford and Josephine Daniels Dukes; and his wife, the late Inez Lovering Dukes.


Cox Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
