Week of October 16, 2005

JOHNNY LEE LOFTON

Johnny Lee Lofton, 89, of Baker County, died Wednesday, October 12, 2005 in Miller County.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Zion F.B.C. with Rev. Isaiah Cheatem officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sylvester Bush, Larry Bush, Elree Bush Jr., Leroy Bush, Generic Kyles, and Ralph Crockett, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Little Zion F.B.C.
Mr. Lofton was born on December 15, 1915 to the late Mrs. Susie Mae Hall and the late Mr. James Lofton in Baker County. He was the second child of three siblings, one preceded him in death (Mrs. Estella Jones). He joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Later, he joined Little Zion F.B. Church.
Survivors include one sister, Hattie Mae Butler of Albany, NY; one brother-in-law, Collie Dock Jones of Colquitt; two nieces, Joyce Mae Bush of Colquitt and Christine McDowell; six nephews, Marvin, Sylvester, Elree, Leroy, Larry Grady, and James Bush, Brandon Bush, and Generic Kyles; and a host of other neices, nephews and friends.


Williams’ Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

JAMES B. DYKES

James B. Dykes, 86, of Donalsonville, died Thursday, October 13, 2005 at his residence.

Graveside services were held Saturday, October 15, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Pallbearers will be mason C.E. Earnest, Emerson Stinnett, Harold Yates, Marlon James, Bo Earnest, and Marvin Tucker.

Mr. Dykes was born in Thomaston, AL, on March 10, 1919 to the late John Henry and Hattie Lou Owens Dykes. He retired from the US Army after 20 years of service, and had worked as a barber for many years after his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Billye Galina of Donalsonville; one sister, Catherine Smith of Morrow; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family friends.


Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
