EDWARD THOMAS MIMS
Edwin Thomas Mims, who retired as a lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Air Force, died Monday, August 14, 2006. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. EDT Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment with full military honors will be at 10:30 a.m. EDT Saturday at Colquitt Cemetery in Colquitt. Born Dec. 3, 1920, he was the son of Irene Smith Mims and E.T. Mims of Miller County, Ga. Col. Mims graduated from the University of Georgia in 1942 with a degree in agricultural engineering. He entered active military service as an aviation cadet candidate in the Army Air Force just three weeks short of his 22nd birthday. After receiving his commission as a second lieutenant, Army Air Corps, and his aeronautical rating as pilot, Lt. Mims flew his first combat mission May 29, 1944. He engaged in bombing operations in World War II as a pilot/aircraft commander and flight leader in B-24 Liberator heavy bombers with the 8th Army Air Force in England. He flew missions with the 446th Bomb Group over Normandy on D-Day and on many other significant combat missions. After the end of World War II, he continued his Air Force career flying jet bombers during the Cold War and Vietnam eras. His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal with five Oak Leaf can/Middle East Theater Ribbon with five Campaign Stars, the World War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Ribbon. He proudly served his country in military stations across the U.S. and overseas at bases in Bermuda, England and Turkey. After a tour of service in Vietnam, he retired from active duty in the Air Force and settled in Tallahassee, where he was a member of the Tallahassee Retired Officers Association, the Tallahassee Genealogical Society and American Legion. He was a founding member of the American Air Museum in Britain. Col. Mims was an officer and a gentleman who was loyal to his country and dedicated to his family. Survivors include his wife, the former Nellie Zemma Bird of Miller County; one sister, Betty Ann Murrah; four children, Wilka Carter (and William), E. Thomas Mims Jr. (and Pam Boland), Michael Bird Mims and John Lane Mims (and Gypsy); and his grandchildren, Mitchell Carter, Matthew, Bryan and Shawn Mims, Robiyn Mims (and Eddie Morris) and Mackenzi and Lane Mims. ELIZABETH RUTH HALL WILLIAMS
October 28, 1903 - August 15, 2006 Mrs. Elizabeth Ruth Hall Williams, 102, of Colquitt, GA passed away August 15, 2006 at Miller County Hospital. The visitation will be Thursday from 3 til 4:00 P.M. prior to the service. The funeral will be 4:00 P.M. Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Talmadge Worsley, Rev. Ryan Clements, and Rev. Benjamin Miller officiating. Duren Williams, David Clements, Tracy Kimbrel, Steven Middleton, Jeremy Middleton, and Jeff Williams will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery. Mrs. Williams was born October 28, 1903 in Mitchell Co. She was a homemaker and a member of New Salem Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine W. Tison of Colquitt; four grandchildren, Michael Williams, Steve Middleton, Susan Middleton Turner, and Tim Williams; six great-grand children, La’is Williams, Amy Williams, Steven Middleton, Jeremy Middleton , Jeff Williams, and Shane Turner; and one great-great-grandchild, Kreason Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Williams, Sr.; one son, Douglas Williams, Jr.; and two sisters, Robbie H. Flanders and Hazel F. Clements.

WINIFRED TUCKER WHITE
Mrs. Winifred Tucker White, age 89, of Donalsonville died Thursday, August 10, 2006, in the Donalsonville Hospital. Mrs. White was born in Decatur County on October 23, 1916, to the late Howel and Ida Morris Tucker. She was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church, worked at Dickie Manufacturing Company in Bainbridge and was a homemaker. She was married to Woodrow White, who preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Dean and Bobby Glover officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Bevel, Alan White, Glen Glisson, Greg Eubanks, Ward Eubanks, Tucker Smith and Tracy Smith. Survivors include one son, Jerry White, Donalsonville; two daughters, Nira Jean Glisson and husband, Bill, Donalsonville, and Delores Bevels and her husband, Mickey, Poulan; two brothers, Marvin Tucker, Donalsonville, and Cary Tucker, Niceville, FL; one sister, Olene Berkshier, Peoria, IL; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

MARY EDNA DANFORD ANDERSON
Mary Edna Danford Anderson, 80, of Bainbridge, died Saturday, August 12, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services were held Monday, August 14, at 11:00 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Everett Foskey, Rev. David Grubbs, Bro. Gary Ellison, and Rev. Eric Boomer officiating. Interment followed in Oak City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Phil Long, Ross Spooner, Chad Revell, Ronnie Martin, Monty Revell, and Chase Revell. Mrs. Anderson was born in Erwin, TN, and had lived in Decatur County since she was 14 years old. She was a homemaker, a Sunday School teacher, and treasurer. She was a member the First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Revell of Tallahassee, FL, and Debra Hatton (husband Ron) of Bainbridge; one son, Joe Anderson (wife Grace) of Bainbridge; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Aldosphus and Edna Mae Cook Danford, and her husband Eric Anderson

EDGAR HENRY
Edgar Henry, 75, of Donalsonville died Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at Donalsonville Hospital. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. August 10 at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Milford Stanley officiating. Interment followed in Colquitt City Cemetery. Mr. Henry was born August 20, 1930, in Miller County. He was a retired shop manager at Ichauway Plantation and a member of Harmony Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Henry of Donalsonville; four sons, Marlton Henry of Adelanto, CA, Jerome (Dana) Henry of Bainbridge, Perry (Sharon) Henry of Bainbridge and Franklin (Suzette) Campbell of Leary; one daughter Denise Cater of Savannah; one sister, Jessie Mae Draper of Colquitt; seven grandchildren, Steven Cater, Phillip Cater, Rebekah Cater, Sarah Cater, Kaleb Henry, Chelsea Henry and Mackenzie Campbell.

R.F. SPOONER
Mr. R.F. Spooner, age 88, of Donalsonville died Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Spooner was born in Seminole County on April 21, 1918, to the late Rufus Franklin and Mary Thomas Spooner. He was a successful farmer and cattleman. Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Anderson and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Bo Spooner, Greg Spooner, Michael Spooner, Brad Spooner, Ron Spooner, Matt Spooner, Kenneth Spooner, Ryan Meadows and Anthony Burch. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Hornsby Spooner; four sons, Steve and Elaine Spooner, Sylvester, Mike and Lynda Spooner, Donalsonville, Neal and Brenda Spooner, Iron City, Richard Hornsby, Iron City; one daughter, June Meadows, Acworth; one sister, Em Ellen Spooner Hoover, Evansville, IL; one sister-in-law, Della Spooner Bell, Albany; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
