GERALDINE McCALVIN WELLS

Mrs. Geraldine McCalvin Wells, 55, of Colquitt, passed away November 16, 2005 at her residence. The funeral was at 2:00 PM Friday November 18, 2005 at First Baptist Church of Colquitt with Rev. Max Parris and Rev Robert Johns officiating. Tony Griffis, Ronnie Powell, Loren Rathel, Greg Houston, Tony Walton, and Ken Varnadoe served as active pallbearers with the active Deacons of the First Baptist Church serving as honoraries. Interment followed at Colquitt City Cemetery. Memorial maybe made to First Baptist Church of Colquitt (Benevolent Fund).
Mrs. Wells was born Feb. 17, 1950 in Miller Co. She was a beautician and a member of First Baptist Church of Colquitt.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Wells of Colquitt; two daughters, Sherry Stovall & son-in-law Guy of Colquitt and Pebbles Warren of Colquitt; four brothers, Jimmy Rix of Americus, Ga, Johnny McCalvin of Charleston, WV, Billy McCalvin of Tallahassee, FL., and Robbie Peek of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Janice Johnson of Jacksonville, FL., Joyce McNease of Colquitt, & Susan Carlin of Pensacola, FL; and three grandchildren, Jessica Shirley, Sky Stovall, & Ty Stovall, all of Colquitt.

PAUL “BOBBY” ALDAY

Paul “Bobby” Alday, age 54 of Donalsonville passed away Sunday afternoon, November 13, 2005 at his residence.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Barineau officiating. A private burial was held at a later date at Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Alday was born on April 23, 1951 in Seminole County to the late Paul and Louise Ledford Alday. He had lived in Donalsonville most of his life. He worked with the State of Georgia as an environmental specialist.
Survivors include, his wife Gloria Whitehead Alday; a daughter, Stacey Dupree and her husband Mike; two brothers, Andy Alday and his wife Loretta and Sambo Alday and his wife Shirley all of Donalsonville; and one grandchild, Brad Dupree.


Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

CHARLIE LEE ELKINS

Charlie Lee Elkins, 71, of Donalsonville, died Monday, November 14, 2005 at his house.
Graveside service was held Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Memorial gardens with the Rev. Harvey Lee Henderson officiating.
Pallbearers were William Bramlett, Brian Buckhalter, Adam Faulk, Pat Bell, Johnny Hanks, and Jim Jones.
Mr. Elkins was born in Russell County, AL on August 4, 1934 to the late John R. and Janie Kyte Elkins. He served his country in the US Air Force; was a painter, and a member of Corinth Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Skipper Elkins of Donalsonville; three sons, Johnny Hanks of Webb, AL, Boyd Hanks of Union Springs, AL; Gene Hanks of Valdosta; one daughter, Diane Bradshaw of Colquitt; one sister, Vetral Robinson of Atlanta; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Carolyn Varnum.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

CLEVELAND C. WATSON


Mr. Cleveland C. Watson, age 84 of Colquitt died Monday, November 14, 2005.

Mr. Watson was born February 16, 1921 in Baker County. He was the son of the late Samuel Melvin Watson and Peggy Heard Watson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the founder and owner of Watson Used Cars. He was a deacon of County Line Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. at County Line Baptist Church with the Rev. Hoyt Donley and the Rev. Wayne Whiddon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel W. Watson, Colquitt; two sons, Samuel C. Watson, Thomas C. Watson, Colquitt; two daughters, Barbara Corder, Colquitt, Charleen Evans, Tallahassee, FL; sister, Sarah Heard, Colquitt; brother, Lamar Darley, Bainbridge; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

LYDIA ELIZABTH SUMMERALL JERNIGAN

Lydia Elizabeth Summerall Jernigan, age 84, of Donalsonville passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 13, 2005, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL.

Funeral services was held Monday, November 14, 2005 at 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Donalsonville with Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville.
Mrs. Jernigan was born in Baxley on January 16, 1921 to the late Morgan and Annie Sharpe Summerall. She was married to Woodrow Jernigan who preceded her in death in 1979. She had lived in this area for the past 60 years, was a member of First Baptist Church and also the Jubilees. She will be remembered by many as having worked at Davis’ Jewelers for many years. She always had a loving smile and pleasing personality and will be missed by all her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory tow sons, Steve Jernigan and his wife Carolyn of Dothan, AL; Rick Jernigan and his wife Sandi of Cummings; two daughters, Sharon Miller and her husband Gerald of Donalsonville; Glenda Jernigan of Pt. Reyes, CA; one brother, Clifton Summerall of Austell. Eight grandchildren, Vince, Ashley, John, Angie, Jafas, Saga, Eyon, and Tela. Two great grandchildren Parker Jernigan and Nola Finey also survive.
Pallbearers will be Vince Jernigan, Alex Jerigan, Trowel Jernigan, John Miller, Clifton Summerall, Jr. and Alford Herring.
