Former resident killed in one vehicle accident

      A accident occurred Saturday, May 10, when Kenneth Blake Lusk, 23, of Arlington, was killed when the vehicle that he was driving overturned. The accident was found and reported at 6:54 a.m., and an officerand rescue workers were on the scene at 7:08 a.m.

Local Marine returns home from active duty in Iraq

      Twenty-eight local Marines arrived home safe and sound on Wednesday. The platoon of Marines just completed a tour of duty in Iraq. Among those arriving home was Lucas A. Davis of Colquitt. The platoon has been in the Al Anbar province of Iraq since September.

Home business lost to fire

      The building and all of the contents of a home business on the corner of Pine and Phillips streets were completely destroyed by fireon Wednesday, May 7. The Colquitt/Miller County Volunteer Fire Department was called to extinguish the flames at approximately 10:20 a.m.
