Kirkland Family Reunion
      On August 8, 2010, the descendants of William Gilbert and Callie Spooner Kirkland got together for the 49th consecutive year for a family reunion. Those attending all had a great time visiting with some they had not seen since last year. They looked and laughed at old photos of 48 past reunions and, as always, enjoyed the food brought from all over by those attending.

      It is hard to believe that September is already here. We are all looking forward to some cooler weather and are looking for some fresh boiled peanuts. We have enjoyed our activities over the past week. Sunday afternoon South Mount Zion visited with us sharing in song and encouraging words.

EAB found in Tennessee-What does that mean for Georgia?
     A destructive, exotic insect that attacks and kills ash trees has been discovered near Knoxville, Tennessee. Because the emerald ash borer (EAB) pest is federally regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a mandatory quarantine has been implemented in the area. The quarantine prohibits the movement of ash firewood, logs, seedlings, or any ash wood product.
